"no one here believes in God..."

yo fam what up?? haha im trying to get back into my getto language stage hows it goin??? man first off i am pretty mad that i missed out on the byu game it sounds like it was amazing. it was so funny cause saturday night we got home, planned for the next day and all the sudden our cell phone rings. i look at it and it says, "president jones." so i am freakin out tryin to think of what i did wrong or if he is going to change me to a different sector... so i answer it and it is his wife, hermana jones. first off she is so awesome, she is obsessed with all sports so anytime we want to know anything about the sport world we just ask her. so she just called to tell me who won in the byu game. i was so happy when i found out that byu won. it totally made my day. so i was pretty happy. Go cougs!!!!

so ya it has been a really good week. we have been working hard and trying our hardest to find the chosen who are ready to accept us. so this week we taught this convert, who we have helped get reactivaded, we taught her the importance of missionary work. so what did she do, she went out and found us this lady that she wants us to visit. it was awesome. so we go over and she comes out and is like "no one here believes in God..." so we are just like, ok we just want to share a message about the family. so she is like, "ok come in you got 10 minutes..." well that 10 minutes turned into 45 minutes. we found out that she has depression really bad and has tried killing herself like 10 times. she said that the drugs that the doctors give her are not working and that she needs something else (the restored gospel!!!) we taught her about the love of God and prayed with her and it was awesome. at the end she was like, "i want to go to your church." then i pulled out a book of mormon and left her with 3rd nephi 11 where christ comes. usually we have to get down on our hands and knees and plead for the people to read cause chileans dont like to read. so as i was bending over to start pleading she asks, "after i get done with this chapter, can i start reading from the beggining??" haha i told her of course not that would be way too miraculous. so it was so awesome, we are going by tonight to see how it went.

besides that it was a pretty normal week, teaching people, walking around, getting sick haha the regular. on thanksgiving day we were invited to this ladys house who lived in the usa for a couple years. here they dont celebrate thanksgiving, im just throwing that out there cause every single one of you guys asked me haha. but anyways, we have a nice little thanksgiving lunch and then she comes out with these slices of pumpkin pie... oh man we were in heaven. im sure she may be the only person here in chile that even knows what a pumpkin pie is. anyways it was sweet.

but ya life is good, just doing my thing down here. next week is changes so i am praying that they dont take me out and they just let me die here. but ya only time will tell. but ya i love you all tons. cant wait to see ya. i love the Lord so much. i love this church and i know that it is true. thanx for everything fam.

love ya

daisy got baptized

hey fam how is life going. everything here is awesome. i am loving life even though it is so hott!!! man the heat has hit and it came with a vengance. but its all good, i am excited to get back to the snow and be able to enjoy the cold. we have had a really good week. we are finding a lot of cool people to teach and it is all good. today we went to a hill called the santa lucía and it was fun. it is right in the middle of the city and over looks everything so it was cool.

also this week daisy got baptized as you could see in the pics that i sent ya. she is so awesome and the baptizm went really well. between us 4 missionaries, we had 8 investigators in the baptizm. so it was good, almost the same number of members...kinda sad but its all good. it doesnt matter who goes cause the lord is there with his angels. but ya it was fun to be the one who baptized her. she is such a good girl, and has completely changed her life around. also she is helping her family to come unto the church so that is awesome. so the work is progressing here in chile. i am still shocked at how little time i have left. it goes by way to fast, i am trying to work harder and harder but it just keeps going by faster and faster the harder i work. there is nothing i can do to slow it down. but it is all good, i will just try to work my hardest to the last second. i love being a missionary, it is so challenging but so rewarding. thanx for all that you guys do. i love you all so much. have a awesome week.

I look over and who do i see? Sister Laycock

Hey fam how is it goin? I love getting letters from you guys you are so awesome. Well everything thing here is going incredible. We had a really good week. I love my son elder bennett he is so awesome, he has the funniest humor. We are just working hard and trying to find the chosen of the Lord. We are trying to use our time well so that my sons feet can get better but at the same time so we are working to our full capasity. It is hard cause our sector is really big and just to get to it take ten minutes of walking but we are doing fine.

So this week we went into the doctors to see what they could do for elder bennetts feet and the doctor works in the office building of the church were also the santiago east mission is. So we go in and we are walking towards the doctors office and i look over and who do i see? Sister laycock just sitting there making copies of something haha. It was so trunky. She freaked out when she saw me and almost gave me a hug haha. She was way excited. She told me that mom always talked about me, how long i was out and how i was doing. She said that her and president are doing well and just loving life. So ya it was really fun to see her and find out how everything was going.

Also a couple days ago we had a kinda hard day where we didnt get into any houses. So we decided to start knocking doors and try to get in. So we knock this door and no one comes out so we keep on walking and all the sudden we hear, “hey you guys, were are you from???” so here in chile everyone wants to try out the little english that they know so we are used to that but this time it was said in a perfect acent. So we turn around and what do you know, there are 2 gringas (2 girls from the states for thoes of you who dont know what a gringa is). So we go over and start talking to them and find out they are from washington and california. So they asked us what we were doing and why we were here in chile and so we explained a little about missionary work. Then we told them we wanted to teach them more. One of them said, “ok lets go to this sweet sushi place, ill pay...” haha i wont lie i was pretty tempted, cause i love sushi and i havent had it in like 2 years. But i explained to them that we couldnt go on dates in the mission but we wanted to share a message with them in their house. Then they said that they wanted to know right then and there what we taught... so we ended up teaching the restoration and the word of wisdom and prophets and baptizm and a lot of other stuff for like 30 minutes in the street. It was sweet but way hard cause i have not had to teach the gospel in english like my whole mission. So i kept on coming to words that i couldnt remember for the life of me what they were in english. But it was awesome so we are going back this week to visit them and see how everything is going. Also yesterday we were just walking along and another girl from the states came up and started talk to us. It is so weird, i havent seen so many people from the states before in my mission. Whatev...

But ya all is good. Daisy passed her baptizmal interview yesterday so she will be baptized this Saturday. She chose me to baptize her so that is going to be awesome. I am way excited for her and this step she is going to take. She is a awesome young lady and is going to be a good example for her family.

Ya well i love you all tons. Hope you have a good week. Keep on praying for me and my investigators. Do the small things that you all know you should (read the scriptures, pray, go to church all three meetings and serve others) and you will be blessed more than you know.

Love ya tons

Hey mom thanx so so much for always supporting. i love you so much. you are so awesome and i am thankful for all that you have done for me. me training really helped me realize how much parents give up for their kids. it is different in the mission i know, its not that intense but you still have to sacrifice yourself to help your children. i am so thankful for all that you do. you are awesome. i hope you know how much i love you. you have always been one of my best friends and i know that you are a angel sent from heaven to help me. have a awesome week mom. love ya tons.

My comp got a bunch of blisters his first day

Hey family how is it going. Life here in chile is going awesome. We have had a really good week. We worked really hard and we have found a lot of new people who want to hear us. Also i dont know if i already told you guys but last week we got a reference from the mtc in utah and the brother is serving a mission in argentina. Well they are awesome and we are working with them a lot cause they have tons of questions about what there brother is doing and why he is in argentina.

But also this week has been kinda hard. My comp got a bunch of blisters his first day here and so it has been hard for him to walk. We have been trying our best to plan it out so we dont have to walk very much but also so we can get alot done. We have had to stay in like 2 days this week so that has sucked but we are doing our best. I just feel really bad cause our sector is huge and we have to walk alot. And my comp walks like a little old grandpa cause i am sure his feet are killing him but he just keeps going. He is so awesome i love my kid haha.  me and my son elder bennett. he is from washington but his family lives now in provo utah.

But ya besides that we are doing really well. Just working and trying to stay focused on the work. There are some times when thoughts come into my mind about what i have to do after the mission and how it is going to be like working and going to school and dating and all that stuff and i get freaked out. Haha i dont want to go back home, i am not ready to get married haha. But i try to block out thoes thoughts but it is hard some times.  also my mission president, president jones, wresting in a lidership meeting. sweet!!!!

There is this girl in the other side of our ward (we share the ward with the other missionaries. I dont know if you guys remember that my sector got split in half like 2 months ago.) anyways this girls name is daisy. She is so awesome. We started teaching her like 4 months ago but she didnt want much with us, her mom was more interested. So after the sector got split i wasnt able to go visit them anymore so i lost contact with them. Then 2 weeks ago they came to church and this past Sunday as well. So now the daughter daisy, wants to get baptized. Yesterday we were able to go over and see her and she told up that she knew the church was true and wanted to be baptized. She said that in one of the lessons that i taught her she felt the spirit really strong and desided to read and pray. She finallly got her answer and now will be baptized in 2 weeks. It is so incredible how even when you dont realize the impact you have, you can have a huge one on the lifes of other people. I love this work so much.

We can see so many people change their lives. It has been the hardest but more rewarding thing on earth. I am so gratefull for the time i have been able to spend in the service of my Lord and Savior. And thanks to you guys for supporting me and always helping me along. I love you all so much. Have a awesome week. Keep on keeping.

PS. ok one thing you guys could do is maybe buy some stuff for one of my converts who is going to serve a mission. she is from a poor family and they could use some help. so maybe you could buy her some stuff for the mission and buy some stuff for the little kids in her family so that they could have a better christmas. it is a mom who is like 45, maricela is 20, and 3 sons who are 15, 5 and 3. so just think about it and let me know next week to maybe give you more details. also i will keep on thinking about what you could do. also about the nativity sets, i think you wanted on, and g-ma lam wanted one too. but i have no money left in my personal account so if you guys want one just put some money in and let me know. but you gotta do it in the next week cause i am going to this place where there is a big selection and i will be able to find a cool one. well love ya tons. have a awesome week.

i was asked to be a...trainer again

Hey family how is life going. Here all is well, we are doing well. So as you know my comp left and i am still in my old sector. So Monday night i got a call from the mission president and i was asked to be a...trainer again. Haha so i was freaking out. But ya i accepted and i got my new comp this past wendsday. His name is elder bennett. He is awesome, he is from seatle washington. He is so cool, we get along really well. But i have been really nervious cause it is hard to train a new missionary. But we are just working hard and seeing lots of miracles. He speaks spanish pretty well for not having very much time in chile but he doesnt understand anything. So i am his translator for now haha. It is good cause it is helping my spanish alot cause i always have to talk and translate things from spanish to english. But ya i am just loving life. We are going to have lots of success together, i just hope that i can finish his training which would mean that i would die here in my sector. I would love that so much, it would stink to get changed out of this sector with just 3 weeks left.

So for halloween there were a lot more people in the streets this year than last year. It was fun to see all the little kids dressed up in all kinds of different things. I realized that chilean children are so cute, and when i see little kids it makes me want to have a kid haha. (I know that is a trunky thought but it does.) but ya so halloween night we were walking back to the house and it takes about 20 minutes to get back from where we were. So me and my kid were talking and all the sudden these little kids who were probably 5 or 6 come up and start attacking us. They say (dulce o atravesura) or trick or treat and they wanted us to give them candy. Well we didnt have any candy with us but we did have pass along cards... haha so we gave them pass along cards with christ on the front. Most of them took it but one or two little punks didnt want one. I kicked them... no jk but it was kinda sad. But ya it was funny, i just hope they call and get a free dvd that would be sweet haha.

Also yesterday we had a appointment with this reference that we got from the MTC in provo (which never ever happens) so we went at 4 to go visit them. We get there and knock and knock and knock but there is no one. So i was kinda down and we werent able to get into any other houses so i was kinda sad. So at 8 we decided to go back and try and we knocked and they were home. So we went in and they are awesome. It is a dad and his daugter who is 14 years old. There names are jaime and macarena. So it turns out that there brother/son is on a mission in argentina and he sent their reference here cause macarena had interest. So they are awesome and we are going to start working hard with them. So that was a huge miracle that we were able to see. Anyways i love the mission. We are doing well. I am just trying to work my butt off and set a good example for my son, elder bennett. Its awesome cause with him i totally forget that i have only 2 months left and we just work. So time is flying by and i am not trunky at all. I am just trying to finish off strong and hopefully we will be able to help a lot of people here. I love you all tons. Have a awesome week.
